New Jersey Department Sons of Veterans Reserve (SVR)

The Sons of Veterans Reserve (SVR) is the ceremonial uniformed military component of the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War (SUVCW). The National Military Department of the SVR consists of the General Staff and seven geographical Military Districts across the nation. SVR Units participate in Civil War related ceremonies, parades, living history programs, and re-enactments.

The New Jersey Battalion of the Sons of Veterans Reserve (SVR) has two squads, and is looking to enlarge to three in the next year. During the last 12 months, we have stood honor guard over four SUVCW members, along with one Medal of Honor recipient from the Civil War. Last, but not least, we have stood honor guard for President and Mrs. Lincoln at the Ocean County Historical Society.

We feel that it is our duty to be there for any member of the military, both past and present when needed. We are proud to have both uniformed and non-uniformed members.
